Telling Your Own Story with Tabletop Role Playing Games

Everyone knows about Dungeons and Dragons, but did you know that there are other games out there that are more inclusive, and story centered? While D&D is great it centers around a very specific kind of story. What if you could open up your games to anything you could imagine? This program will point you to resources to bring RPGs into your library, but in a way that lets every patron tell their own story.

For this experience, we’ll be using the Fate Accelerated rule set (which is available as a Creative Commons: attribution resource) to build our stories, but the principles we’ll discuss can be applicable to other systems.

In this workshop you’ll learn to:

* Train staff and volunteers to run their own games.

* Learn to develop imaginary worlds created by your own community.

* Use existing words to bring life to your own creations.

* Come up with characters and character stats relevant to your own game.

*Develop your own rules when needed.

*Adapt rules from different systems.

* Find more resources for running Fate games.

*Ask questions.

All participants will receive documentation, and guidelines in the form of a professionally written PDF.
