Genrefication: Modern Organization for Today's Library Users

Recently you may have heard the term Genrefication in association with “ditching Dewey.” Genrefication involves organizing and categorizing items into genres similar to what a patron would see in a bookstore. Organizing items like this can make it easier for patrons, especially children, to find materials on topics of interest. In this session, you will learn what genrefication is, its benefits, and best practices for implementing and maintaining your collection and catalog.
