Libraries are frequently offered donations of personal papers, photographs and other non-book items. Many librarians, not knowing how to handle such materials, simply refuse the donations. Other librarians see them as opportunities to establish or add to archival collections. This program will explore the challenges in different but related situations. One panelist helped establish a new archive; the other became the manager of an existing archive. They will discuss management of an archival collection by relating their personal experiences.
